Katherine Grainger wins Gold at the London Olympics
Champion British rower and King’s PhD student Katherine Grainger has won Gold in the women’s double sculls along with her rowing partner Anna Watkins at Eton Dorney.
Katherine and Anna led the race from the very start and beat their nearest rival, Australia, by a full length. They crossed the finish line to a standing ovation from the grand-stand.
Katherine is currently studying a PhD in law at King’s. She was created a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2006 in recognition of her services to sport.
