On Wednesday 19 March the Principal had the honour of hosting the College’s first ever thank you event for alumni and friends who have chosen to leave a gift in their will.

Guests were invited to afternoon tea in the Great Hall at the Strand Campus and heard from the Principal about the positive impact that charitable bequests of alumni and friends have made over the years. This was followed by a presentation from Mr Geoff Browell, Senior Archives Manager, detailing some of the College’s historical legacy gifts dating back to the late 19th century.

In addition to the Principal and Mr Browell, guests heard from Mark Hintze, a PhD student and the first recipient of the Diana Trebble Scholarship, established from a legacy gift from Dr Diana Trebble (Guy’s, Dentistry, 1953). Her scholarship allows postgraduate students to undertake cutting-edge research and has given Mark, a talented student who had to work night shifts in a supermarket to fund his undergraduate degree, a remarkable opportunity to dedicate his time and intellect to pushing forward boundaries in basic science.

The afternoon tea was followed by an exclusive tour of the Strand Campus with Mr Browell and guests were then invited to an evening performance from the King’s College London Choir. Please have a look at a selection of images from the concert.

We are incredibly grateful to alumni and friends who choose to remember King’s in their will. If you would like more information about leaving a gift in your will, or if you already have included a bequest to King’s and would like information about our events and communications, please contact the Legacy Manager by email at or call 020 7848 4700.
