Catch up on live coverage as Hillary Clinton and Julia Gillard launch new event series

The Global Institute for Women’s Leadership (GIWL) and Policy Institute at King’s have been delighted to host Hillary Rodham Clinton, former US Secretary of State and the first female presidential candidate of a major US political party. Secretary Clinton joined Julia Gillard, chair of GIWL, and the first and only woman to have served as Prime Minister of Australia, for a discussion to launch King’s new World Questions event series. Alumni can watch full coverage of the discussion via the King’s College London website.

In an enthralling dialogue that covered topics ranging from social media and Brexit, to The Book of Gutsy Women, co-written with her daughter Chelsea, and the shared Welsh roots of the speakers, Secretary Clinton spoke passionately about the multitude of issues women are faced with in their professional, public and private lives. The audience featured members of the King’s alumni community and a number of renowned public figures.

The event coincided with recently published research into the factors that help or hinder equality between men and women, carried out by GIWL in collaboration with Ipsos MORI. You can read a summary of this in Julia Gillard’s recent article for The Independent.
