The Dental Alumni Association was established in 2002 with the aim to encourage and provide opportunities for past dental students and staff to meet and keep in touch with each other, current students, and staff at the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences at Guy’s, King’s College and St Thomas’ Hospitals and the Royal Dental Hospital.

The Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences is proud of its alumni and is in regular contact with over 7,000 dental graduates from the current and former schools including Guy's Hospital Dental School, King's College Hospital Dental School, the Royal Dental Hospital Dental School and the United Medical and Dental Schools.

'Alumni are a valued part of the Institute's wider community', says Professor Nairn Wilson, former Dean of the Faculty. 'Through its strong alumni community, the Faculty is able to command its pre-eminent position in dental education, research and patient services, and in turn, alumni have all the more satisfaction of being part of the heritage and future of the Dental Institute as a truly world class centre of excellence.'

Dental alumni frequently return to the Faculty for class reunions and social events, and every year the Dental Alumni Association organises a popular professional development event for alumni; the Dental Alumni Weekend.

For more information about the Dental Alumni Association, please contact the Association secretary Dr Suzie Moore (Dentistry, 1997), call the Alumni Office on 020 7848 3053 or email forever@kcl.ac.uk.

Dental Alumni Weekend

The two day programme provides an important opportunity to meet with former members of staff and students as well as show-casing high calibre presentations in clinical dentistry from both internal and external speakers. Usually held in March every year, the weekend also involves the Staff & Alumni Dinner, a clinical open day incorporating the John McLean Symposium and eponymous lectures in memory of Rod Cawson and Walter Herbert, tours of the clinical teaching facilities, and the Dental Alumni Association's Annual General Meeting.

The Dental Circle

The Dental Circle recognises alumni, staff, former staff and friends of the Dental Institute at Guy’s, King’s College and St Thomas’ Hospitals and the Royal Dental Hospital, who very generously help us to provide current students and staff with the best facilities and opportunities that they need to succeed through making gifts of £1,000 or more each year.

The Executive Dean, Professor Mike Curtis, acknowledges Dental Circle donors as advisors, who provide both intellectual and financial resources to the Dental Institute, contributing to its advancement.
