Frequently Asked Questions

Please note, due to the impact of novel coronavirus we are unable to take any telephone calls or process any donations by telephone for the immediate and foreseeable future. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will keep you updated on any changes to this on our website. You can still donate by credit/debit card here and/or make a regular gift by Direct Debit here. Thank you very much for your support. We hugely appreciate it.

Why did someone from King’s phone me and ask for money?

You may have been called one of our student callers during one of our telephone fundraising campaigns, which take place three times a year. Our team of 30 student callers ring alumni and supporters to inform them about the amazing projects happening here at King’s, and to rally support for some of our most important causes.

If you’ve received a call from one of our student callers and would like to confirm that it was us who called you, update your details, or give us some feedback on your call, please email us at

How can I donate?

There are lots of ways you can give a gift to King’s:

You can donate securely through our online donation pages. Give a single gift here, or set up a regular gift to King’s here

Are my donations eligible for Gift aid?

Yes. King’s College London has charitable status for all UK tax purposes. So if you are eligible for the Gift Aid scheme King’s can claim an extra 25% on donations you have made in the last four years and on future donations once we receive your declaration.

Please note that we do we do not have a charity registration number because King’s is an exempt charity under Schedule 2 of the Charities Act 1993.  For more information please go to the HMRC Website.

Policy for returning donations

We work hard to ensure you have the best supporter journey when you make a donation. Unfortunately under charity law (The Charities Act 2011) we are unable to refund donations, other than in specific circumstances.

If you believe that a donation you have made should be refunded then please email us at and we can advise on what we can do.

How do I update my details?

You can update your details at any time on your alumni community alumni account. Alternatively, you can contact our Supporter Care team by emailing and we will be able to do it for you.

How do I ask you to stop contacting me?

If you’d like to stop receiving any communication from us, simply contact our Supporter Care team by emailing and we will make sure you are taken off our contact lists immediately. If you are happy with some methods of communication but not others (for example, if you’d like to receive letters from us, but would prefer not to be called), we can specify this too – just let us know how you want to be contacted.
