King’s welcomes Sir Christopher Geidt as new Chairman

Sir Christopher Geidt is set to become the new Chairman of the university’s Governing Council, succeeding the ninth Duke of Wellington, Charles Wellesley. Sir Christopher is a War Studies graduate and a Fellow of King’s. His military and diplomatic service career has led to his current role as Private Secretary to Her Majesty The Queen, the Patron of King’s. Sir Christopher brings a distinguished career and history of public service including:

  • Keeper of the Privy Purse and Treasurer to The Queen
  • Fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government
  • Trustee of the Royal Collection

Sir Christopher said of his appointment:

‘It will be a great honour for me to serve King’s…I very much look forward to doing whatever I can to promote the very best interests of this great university, its students and staff in the coming years.’
