The art works brightening up Guy's Cancer Centre

Guy's Cancer Centre

The Cancer Centre at Guy’s Hospital has an ambitious arts programme that aims to transform the experience for patients being treated for cancer. Supporter Dianne Roberts’s recent donation of some beautiful artworks by internationally renowned artist Marc Quinn, in memory of her husband Graham, drew our attention to the fantastic collection that is being amassed there.

Here we take a look at a small selection of some of the beautiful works on display there for patients and visitors.

Portraits of Landscapes (2007) by Marc Quinn

Dianne’s donation of these beautiful prints by Marc Quinn is now cheering visitors to the Chemotherapy Village.

 Boat (2016) by Daniel Silver

Daniel Silver’s award winning Boat is based on a Roman boat (AD 190-225) that was buried almost five metres beneath the Cancer Centre.

You can see a video of Daniel talking about this work here

The Mountain (2016) by Karel Marten

The layers of colourful design at the Cancer Centre reminded Dutch artist Karel Marten of a mountain. He created this vinyl wall design with thousands of individual pixels, each made up of a series of shapes coloured to correspond with the Cancer Centre Village colours.
