In April 2009, alumni and guests gathered to listen to a panel of experts discuss reforms in UK banking regulation which included the implications of the recent Banking Act 2009.

The panellists were leaders in their fields and included:
Professor Eva Lomnicka - King's College London School of Law
Mr Martyn Hopper – Partner, Litigation Herbert Smith LLP
Mr Andrew Whittaker - Director, General Counsel, Financial Services Authority

The discussions were moderated by the Chair of the Law Alumni Group, Mr Robin Healey (Law, 1968) and covered the full range of regulatory responses to the financial crisis, including the recent recommendations of the Turner review and proposed structural changes in Europe. Each panellist spoke for around 15 minutes and then the discussion was opened to the floor. Robin also shared the latest news and events from this exciting new alumni group.

Following the panel discussion, guests were treated to a reception where they were joined by the Principal, Professor Rick Trainor and staff from the School of Law. Delegates were offered 2 CPD points for attending and had the opportunity to network with alumni peers.
