King's Hong Kong Alumni Golf Day 2012

Weather during Spring in Hong Kong is always unpredictable but when King’s alumni decide to have a fun day out, even a black Friday has to give way to bright shiny weather. Our determined golfers gathered to enjoy just this during the King’s College London Golf Day on Friday 13 April 2012.

The day started off with a golf clinic conducted by the Head Golf Professional of Kau Sai Chau Golf Course. Thanks to the experience of our instructors and with the help of video analysis, King’s was given crucial individual advice which helped improve the game both for the day and in the long term.

The East Course at Kau Sai Chau has lived up to its reputation as being one of the most scenic and challenging courses in Asia. Each hole has its own “flavour” that requires a carefully planned attack. After conquering the long-distance drive in an occasional strong breeze, each shot has to be taken with surgical precision. That job was perfectly executed by Dr. Ronald Leung who, himself a skin specialist, became the winner of our “Closest-to-Pin” trophy. Peter Cheung took home the Best Score Prize by shooting an impressive gross score of around 80. Peter was a first-timer to King’s Golf Day and Kau Sai Chau and we hope to see more of him at future events. The King’s Trophy went to Anthony Wong, who beat other opponent in a very tight competition.

The King’s Golf Day was completed in style with a sumptuous dinner paired with a Premier Cru Rouge, thanks to the generosity of Anthony Wong. (Organiser’s note: Anthony’s win has no connection to his Burgundy, but any future contenders of the King’s Trophy are welcome to follow his good example).

It was a great day out for all of our participants. We look forward to seeing you all at our next King’s event!
